Test Results

Our results line is open from 2.00pm until 4:00pm every day.

If your test has been requested by a clinic or hospital please call the clinic or hospital for the result, as we cannot action tests which have been requested by other clinicians outwith the practice. If the results are normal and doctor decides no action needed, please note you might not be contacted, however please feel free to call us and confirm that they are indeed normal. If the results are abnormal and doctor thinks they need to be acted upon, you will be contacted by staff members either advise of this.

Blood Tests

Blood results may take up to 1 week to come back.

Blood testing is usually done by our Healthcare Assistant (HCA). If you have a letter asking you to make an appointment for a blood test, it would usually be with a HCA.

Results take up to 1 week to come back. Some bloods can be reported on next day. Please note for checking Blood sugar, Cholesterol levels, ideally we would need fasting blood tests. (Overnight fasting for at least 8 hours and not to eat or drink anything, except water, or take medication except absolutely necessary in the morning).

Radiology Results (X-ray)

X-ray & Ultrasound results take up to 3 weeks to be reported by the hospital.

If you have undergone any of the above investigations ordered by the practice, the doctors will look into each and every of them and act accordingly.

Our Patient Care Advisors are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Specimens

All specimens must be provided in a suitable container and marked clearly with name, date of birth and a date and reason for the specimen.

Urine Tests

Urine culture results can take up to 7 days to return.

If you are suspecting cystitis, please contact GP or a Nurse.

We do not accept Urine samples without prior discussion with a Doctor or Nurse.
